Biotech companies demand secrecy

TWENTY biotechnology companies and universities have asked the government to keep secret details of their research into genetically modified crops.

Environment minister Michael Meacher said Monsanto, Novartis, Zeneca and Shell will have parts of their applications treated as “commercially confidential”.
