Blair "unenthusiastic" about hunt ban

THE anti-hunt lobby received another blow when Prime Minister Tony Blair
dampened prospects for an early ban on hunting.

A spokesman said a hunting ban was not seen as “any great priority”.

There are indications that the Criminal Justice Bill, due later this year, is
framed tightly enough to avoid the anti-hunt lobby using it as a vehicle to push through an amendment banning hunting.

Michael Fosters private members bill to outlaw hunting is expect to collapse over the next few weeks.

Kate Hoey, the Labour MP for Vauxhall, has formed a group to try to find a
“middle way” that would end some of huntings most objectionable features while allowing it to continue in a restricted way.
