Blowing when snowing
Blowing when snowing
THE UK snow blower market is notoriously fickle – when it snows everyone is interested in them and when it doesnt, no one is.
Gambling on the country being covered in a blanket of thick snow is Suffolk-based Broadwater Machinery – the company has now introduced a range of Danish-built snow blowers.
Three models are available offering working widths of 2.05m, 2.2m and 2.45m (6.7ft, 7.2ft, 8ft) with all three capable of being operated in pull and push positions.
In deep snow the machines are pushed with the front auger facing the snow and in shallow snow, the blowers are pulled.
Three-point linkage mounted, the machines top links can be moved from front to rear and vice versa.
In action, a horizontal auger moves snow to a four-bladed fan which then discharges it through a chute – the chute can be rotated through 360í either manually or hydraulically depending on specification.
Included in the standard build is a set of depth wheels and shear-bolt protection for the pto powered drivelines. Prices start at about £4000.
