BOCM Pauls secures new deal

BOCM Pauls has acquired 60,000t of pig and poultry tonnage from Countrywide Farmers and SCATS for an undisclosed sum.

Most of the tonnage in the BOCM deal was produced at Countrywides Defford, Worcs mill, which closed at the end of May. This produced 110,000t a year of both ruminant and mongastric feed. The balance will be taken up be the companys Finmere and Melksham mills.

The move completes another stage of the proposed merger between Countrywide and SCATS, and allows the former to concentrate on ruminant feed production in line with most shareholders interests, says John Rutherford, managing director of Countrywides agricultural division.

It follows confirmation of Countrywides purchase of SCATS feed business on June 1, the same day that SCATS acquired Countrywides grain business.
