Boy, 10, dies after tractor road crash

A 10-year-old boy has died after being hit by a tractor on a Cumbria road.
The youngster, who has not been named, died when the vehicle struck him in Longtown on Monday (10 August).
Police were called at 3.50pm to the collision, which involved the boy and a tractor, driven by a 58-year-old man from the Carlisle area.

The A7, between the A6071 junction and Longtown Bridge, was closed due to the incident, and did not reopen until 8pm on Monday.
The victim’s family has been informed, and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
