BSE cattle deaths fall by 70% in two years


The number of cattle dying of mad cow disease has fallen by 70% over the past two years.


There were 1,716 cases of BSE in the first six months of this year. This was 56% fewer than in the same period of 1996 and 70% down on the first half of 1995.
