BSPB welcomes farm-save success
ROYALTY collected on farm-saved seed used last autumn amounts to £1.5m. The British Society of Plant Breeders has welcomed the new scheme as a success.
A large share was collected by NAAC members and other BSPB-registered seed processors – the remainder was paid directly by more than 1000 farmers.
"We are extremely encouraged by this initial response," says BSPB chief executive Roger Turner. "Our initial on-farm audits suggest farmer compliance across the UK is running well." *
