Budgens backs down over pork
by FWi staff
SUPERMARKET Budgens has decided to source only British fresh pork following a blockade of one of the companys distribution depots by pig producers last week.
Officials from Budgens invited us to talk to them at the demonstration, said protester Arthur Fidler, a member of the British Pig Industry Support Group member.
The discussion that followed was open, frank and friendly and we got the impression that Budgens were keen to hear what we had to say.
Then on Monday we held further talks and were told that Budgens would source only British fresh pork in the future – a decision that we are grateful for and warmly welcome.
