Bunge to sell Asian pig business
BUNGE, the US agribusiness, is selling its south-east Asian pork operation to Singapores KMP group, reports the Financial Times.
This includes Bunges 50% stake in KMP Bunge, the sole supplier of live pigs to the Singapore market, which produces 330,000 pigs annually.
KMP Bunge was set up as a joint venture with the Salim Group through its KMP unit.
Pig production facilities, a 50% stake in a stock feed plant and a pig slaughterhouse were also included in the deal for an undisclosed price.
Bunge says it is shedding “non-core” holdings to focus on its main grain and oilseed tradings, its South American fertiliser business and food interests.
