BWMBscrapping denied by MAFF

MAFF has denied that it has told the Cabinet Office that it wants the British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) to be scrapped.

The rumour has been circulating since Lord Haskins said in a House of Lords debate just before Christmas that MAFF had suggested the board was "an historic anachronism."

But a MAFF spokeswoman insisted the accusation was not true. The department was due to carry out a better services quality review of the BWMB sometime this year but that was all that had been decided. "There arent any preconceptions related to this exercise."
