Cairns Group slams CAP reform plan

COMMON Agricultural Policy reforms agreed by European heads of government are “insufficient” and “unacceptable” claims the Cairns Group of countries.
The reforms agreed in Berlin last month would still shield European farmers from international market signals, said a joint statement released on Monday.
“Agenda 2000 will not provide a sufficient contribution to the forthcoming WTO negotiations. Further reforms will be necessary,” said the statement.
The Cairns Group includes countries as diverse as Australia, Columbia, Canada and Thailand.
