Calling all talented writers

THERES £400 in prize- money to be won in our annual writing competition, so if you have a story waiting to be told put it into words now and it could earn you some extra cash for the New Year.

Everyone has their dreams and ambitions. Some are realised, others abandoned and many are strived for time and again but are never attained. Some dreams, like winning the Lottery, we never expect to come true but others, like finding a partner for life can seem tantalisingly possible.

For this years Veronica Frater Memorial writing competition, we invite readers to submit their original stories of 500 words or less, under the title Dream On. Fact or fiction, the judges will be looking for an interesting story line, but whether it is humorous, uplifting, touching or chilling, is entirely up to you.

Farmlife has run this competition each year since the death, in 1993, of Veronica Frater, whose diary, filled with the antics of her large family, was much loved by readers during the six years it was published on our pages. The winner will receive £300 and the entry will be published in our Christmas issue. We will also publish two runner-up entries and the writers of these will each receive £50. FARMERS WEEKLY will hold the copyright of all winning stories.
