Canada embarks on food inspection blitz

CANADA has begun a national food inspection campaign following the seizure of illegal meat-based products from Britain found in shops in eastern and western parts of the country.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency found beef bouillon, soups and meat pies in Calgary, Alberta; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Richmond, British Columbia, Montreal and Toronto. Shopowners were told to destroy them. Imports have been banned since 1996.
