Canada’s growers want direct sales
CANADIAN farmers seeking to bypass the Canadian Wheat Board and sell crops on their own have begun an appeal.
They argue that the law forcing them to sell to the board violates human rights and discriminates, as it is not applied to all farmers.
The Alberta Barley Commission, many of whose 39,000 members want to market crops individually, is spearheading the challenge.
