Cannon lines lead bidding at Carlisle
THE three leading bids for Limousin females in the breed societys special evening sale at Carlisle all came for stock carrying Broadmeadows Cannon lines.
Top call of 2900gns was for Penrith, Cumbria breeder A B Hollidays maiden heifer Eden Melody, a Shire Handsome daughter out of a Cannon-sired dam. Buyer was J Hair, Dumfriesshire.
Robert Adam and Sons Newhouse Mina, a heifer by the Cannon son Softlaw Impeccable and suckling a bull calf by Newhouse Oasis won her class and made 2600gns to J Pattison, Carlisle.
Willie Cowx, chief steward of the show classes, gave 2600gns to add Redrock Lambrussco to his herd near Carlisle. This heifer, with a bull calf by Gaulois is by the Cannon son Haltcliffe Eros.
Cheshire cattle breeder Denis Lomas won the championship with Glebedale Juleia, a smart heifer by the Epatant son Goldies Gigolo and bred from the 7000gns Mereside Buddleia that weighed over a tonne. Buyers at 2450gns were D S and C M Edwards, Llanrwst, Gwynedd. Mr Lomas also sold another Gigolo heifer at 2500gns.
