THE government has waived cattle passport charges for a further two years until 2004 in a move it claims will save the industry 18 million.

The extra money has been made available from extra funds allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture under the Comprehensive Spending Review.

MAFF has also pledged to extend coverage on the Cattle Tracing System database from 40% of the GB herd to 100% over the next three years.
