Cereals 2007: TAG attracts new entrants
The Arable Group (TAG) has joined forces with four of the country’s leading universities in an effort to attract new talent into the farming industry.
Speaking at the Cereals event, TAG’s chief executive Colin MacEwan said that the staff of any organisation were its key asset.
“There’s no doubt that the agricultural industry is struggling to attract new entrants,” he said. “There are big gaps developing and we urgently need to recruit new talent and fresh thinking.”
The TAG Asset Programme is a joint initiative between TAG and the University of Newcastle, Harper Adams University College, the University of Nottingham and the University of Reading.
“We will be funding final year students,” revealed Mr MacEwan. “Our aim is to ensure that the industry is seen as a desirable place work in and that we can recruit quality candidates.”
