Chaviot 2000 near the end of the line
CHAVTRAC is to cease production of the Chaviot 2000 – a self-propelled sprayer/fertiliser, machine which has formed the mainstay of the companys business over the past decade.
The decision is based on a need to upgrade the unit to conform with current legislation, difficulties in sourcing gearboxes and the fact that the supplier of rear axles has ceased to manufacture.
On the sprayer front, Chavtrac will concentrate on promoting sales of the high clearance, high speed Spra Coupe.
Sprays and Sprayers saw the official introduction of the Spra Coupe 4440 which becomes the largest model in the range.
Power is provided by a 1000 series, four-litre 110hp Perkins engine driving through a four-speed powershift transmission. A cruise control enables the operator to set sprayer speed, cancel it for headland manoeuvring and reset it when spraying recommences.
Independent suspension – springs and shockers on the front and swinging arm and coil springs on the rear – is designed to enable the machine to travel at high speeds within the field. Track width can be hydraulically adjusted from 72in to 120in.
Spraying equipment comprises a 1560-litre tank, suspended booms up to 28m wide and controls which allow application rates to be maintained in respect of changes in forward speed. *
