Cheap loans for women

FEMALE entrepreneurs can get cheap cash through the Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE) scheme.

Membership of WiRE – a national networking and business club based at Harper Adams – brings the chance to borrow up to £15,000 at base rate from HSBC, which can mean interest savings of £300/year.

Membership, which costs £15/year, also allows access to workshops and courses, networking meetings and the annual conference.

Those involved learn from each others experiences and grow in confidence, says HSBCs Anne Moyle. A range of business ventures are represented, she says. "Its not just jam-making – were talking about some big enterprises."

The scheme also features a help-line offering free advice on areas such as human resources, marketing and law. "A brilliant perk," says Mrs Moyle.
