Check on manganese

CHECK cereal yellowing in case manganese deficiency needs correcting, advises one northern consultant.

Cereal crops in the Vale of York are starting to show severe yellowing symptoms, says Paul Power of independent crop consultancy Phoenix Agronomy. If it is manganese deficiency, it will require urgent attention.

"Growers should look for inter-veinal yellowing, especially in patches across the field. This indicates manganese deficiency which should be rectified as soon as possible, whilst the land will travel."
