Chicken sex manipulation could revolutionise industry
Brief cold weather can change a chickens sex in the egg, it has been
discovered. This could lead to big changes in the poultry industry if put under controlled conditions.
There could be large savings if the breeding stock could be made to produce only males which put on enough meat at sufficient speed to make them more economically viable than females. Female chicks from broiler stocks are currently destroyed after hatching.
