Chinese ATV to make UK debut this August
BRITAINS ATV market is set to have another player in the field, from Chinese maker Jianshe.
Late August will see importer Hants-based AJS Motorcycles make available the 250cc Puma quad, which will cost just £2500.
"Jianshe has a global presence in the ATV market having been in the business of small quads and motorbikes for a number of years," says AJS Motorcycles Nick Brown. "Initially, we intend to offer just one low-cost, simple specification 250cc machine for the farming sector – the Puma 250. But this will be joined by larger models in the future."
Mr Browns company is aiming to distribute the quads through 84 motorbike and ATV dealers in the UK, and is looking to recruit extra outlets.
The Puma 250 uses a single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine driving through a 5Fx1R two-wheel drive mechanical transmission. Drive is transmitted through a wet centrifugal clutch via a shaft, while stopping power is provided by cable-operated sealed drum brakes.
Front and rear rack, capacities and towing load are rated at 30kg, 45kg, and 330kg.
For suspension, the front 22×7-10 tyres rely on independent struts, while the rear 22×10-10 boots benefit from swinging arms and single shock absorbers. *
