Chip prices soar in potato shortage

CHIP-SHOP owners are being forced to raise the price of chips because of the soaring price of potatoes.

Potato prices have doubled in recent months.

The potato crop is forecast to drop from last years 6.8 million tonnes to 6.3m this year. Poor weather has already led to high wastage levels.
