Clayton now comes in stepless change
A STEPLESS, hydro-mechanical transmission is now available as an option on Clayton C4105 and C4120 tractors.
Previously a 10-speed mechanical transmission from a 5×2 configuration, designers have dispensed with the conventional clutch and main five-speed gearbox. And filling the gap is a variable displacement hydraulic pump and two-speed motor.
Adding a two-speed mechanical transfer box gives the Claytons hydro-mechanical transmission four stepless speed ranges – all achievable without the need for the operator to move his left leg.
Lucassen Young which makes the Clayton tractor claims the use of short lengths of hydraulic pipework in the transmission system reduces heat build-up and subsequent power loss. *
