Coatings combat bacteria problems

COMBATING the never ending problems caused by bacteria, mould and algae found in animal housing is the purpose of a new product range from manufacturer Sympro.

A full range of surface coatings, with broad band effectiveness against bacteria such as E coli, salmonella, listeria, clostridium and all other harmful bacteria and fungi, are available in a number of forms, according to Sympro.

The coatings remove the need for disinfection or high-pressure washing, so working areas merely have to be washed down with water and reactivated with a secondary application about every 18 months to two years, according to the manufacturer.

Paint-based coatings cost from £6/sq m (56p/sq ft) including application and water-based coatings cost from 60p/sq m (6p/ sq ft) (0800-7830823; fax 0800-7830825).
