Code of conduct on OPs approved
A CONTROVERSIAL code of conduct for government advisers, which prompted the resignation of one of the countrys leading experts, on the effects of organophosphorus pesticides on human health has been formally approved.
The key requirement of the code, approved by the Veterinary Products Committee who advise MAFF, is for members to declare requests for advice in relation to future court proceedings involving OP sheep dips.
Panel members could be committing an offence under the Medicines Act if they disclose to a court information which they had obtained solely as a result of their panel membership.n
