KENYA is heading for a record tea harvest after last years poor yield. The country produced 178 million kg of tea in the first seven months of 1998, 59% more than the same period last year.
Tea is Kenyas biggest commodity export. Some 90% of its output is sold abroad.
Other big tea producers are expecting record crops, although parts of central Africa, such as Malawi, had suffered from poor weather.
