Contract farming in fashion
By FWi staff
CONTRACT farming is becoming more popular, according to latest figures from Strutt and Parker.
The company advised on 256 contract farming arrangements in the 12 months to the end of May, says head of farming Christopher Monk.
That is probably three times as many as we did the previous year, he adds.
It reflects the need by farmers to take more radical action to balance the books, and is also being driven by contracting parties who are keen to expand, he says.
Farmers are choosing the contract farming route because it allows them to keep trading, and has several tax advantages too.
