Correction — crops assurance
A STORY on FWi yesterday (22 July) suggested that about 14.5 million tonnes of grain from more than 100 members would be handled by the Assured Combinable Crops Scheme this year (ACCS). The story should have referred to the Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops, which is administered by the United Kingdom Agricultural Supply Trade Association. A corrected version of the story follows:
ABOUT 14.5 million tonnes of grain from more than 100 members is expected to be handled by the Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops this year.
The figure is thought to be 80% of the total UK output of combinable crops traded beyond the farm gate, claims the United Kingdom Agricultural Supply Trade Association.
The scheme demands independent verification that members comply with industry standards of safe practice.
It ensures that crops are hauled, stored and tested responsibly between leaving the farm and delivery to the customer.
