Cowslips take the strain

COWSLIPS, one of more than 200 Millennium Products chosen for their excellent design, are examined in an article in The Independent Friday Review.

The Cowslip from Giltspur Scientific is a PVC orthopaedic clog with a tapering sole. It was introduced in 1992 to tackle the problem of lameness and infected hooves in British dairy cows.

It says the Cowslip which slots onto the claw of the hoof is more difficult to dislodge then predecessors and stays in position for weeks. This allows time for the cows foot to heal and improves posture.
