Crawler gets a major redesign

CRAWLERS continue to re-establish themselves on the agricultural scene. Japanese-built Morooka rubber tracked crawlers, marketed by Boston-based Robert Crawford recently introduced the 250hp MK-220S model.

Bearing little resemblance to earlier designs, the 8.3 litre, 220hp machine was seen at the event working with a seven-furrow Lemken semi-mounted plough. Despite greasy surface conditions progress appeared to be in good order.

Unlike most other rubber tracked vehicles, the Morookas tracks have the traditional straight bar grips rather than the familiar tractor-tyre V-shaped grips.

Drive to the tracks is positive via a powered toothed wheel meshing with corresponding teeth moulded to the inside of the track.

Price of the MK-220S is listed at £75,000. &#42
