Vintage tractor stolen in raid recovered

A vintage tractor stolen by thieves in a late-night raid on a farm riding school has been recovered.



The 40-year-old Ford 3000 tractor, worth £1,800, was stolen from Houston Farm Riding School in Uphall, West Lothian, Scotland, on 28 November.


Now the vehicle has been recovered from a field in Uphall last Sunday afternoon.


A second tractor stolen in the raid, an £8,500 New Holland tractor, was recovered earlier.


Around 230m of fencing and three gates were destroyed during the raid before the thieves made their getaway.


Police said they were making good progress in the hunt for those responsible.


A police spokesman said: “Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances, and officers are following a positive line of inquiry.”


* In other crime news, police have launched pilot scheme to tackle rural crime across the Norfolk/Suffolk border.


Operation Breakout, a joint initiative launched by Norfolk Constabulary and Suffolk Constabulary, is designed to combat overnight crime along the county boundaries of Breckland, South Norfolk, Forest Heath and mid-Suffolk.


Officers from both forces will work together in high visibilty police patrols to target overnight rural crime from 8pm to 4am along the border.


They will be targeting suspects involved in rural crime, including burglary, vehicle crime and theft of metals and fuels. The pilot scheme will run until Christmas.
