Crimped Wwheat success

CRIMPED Tanker winter wheat for his 120-cow dairy herd has pleased farmers weeklys Northern Ireland barometer farmer Robert Craig, delivering an estimated 14.8t/ha (6t/acre) at 35% moisture.

Earlier he took a 24t/ha (10t/acre) silage crop of forage peas undersown with lucerne to add to the animals diet. "We grew a similar crop last year except it was undersown with Italian ryegrass, but the cows werent getting enough protein from the crop."

Conventional winter wheat at Carse Hall, Ballykelly, should go soon, although some neighbours have already started, he says. &#42
