Curry replaces Curry at Dairy UK

DAIRY UK, the organisation that represents the dairy industry, has announced the appointment of David Curry, MP, as its new chairman.

Mr Curry, a former government minister, will succeed Donald Curry who steps down as Dairy UK’s inaugural chairman in August.

Mr Curry, MP for Skipton and Ripon, said: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of chairman of Dairy UK at a time when one of our country’s most vital industries faces so many challenges on different issues.

“The UK’s position regarding CAP reform, WTO negotiations and their impact on  industry jobs are predominant issues in the sector.

“There are also important lifestyle and nutritional issues such as fat and salt levels in dairy products as well as increasing attention to the environment and sustainability.

“On top of that, the whole question of the relationships between producers, supermarkets and retailers continues to be of critical importance.”
