Deere in Turkish joint venture

DEERE and Company and the Hattat Group of Turkey have agreed to form a joint venture company for the production of 50hp to 90hp tractors, and the distribution of John Deere agricultural machinery throughout Turkey.

The new company is to be called John Deere Hattat AS with Deere and Co owing a majority interest. A factory for the production of tractors under 100hp will be set up in Cerkezkoy, to the west of Instanbul, with first models due to roll out early in 2001.

The Hattat Group, with 1000 employees is a major supplier of hydraulic and mechanical components for the OEM industry under the name Hema.
