By Farmers Weekly staff
DEVON-BASED dairy farmers co-op Peninsula Milk Processors is planning to double its throughput to 300,000 litres a day processed as liquid milk and clotted cream.
A planning application to extend its processing plant at Okehampton is about to be submitted.
Peninsula chairman Sandy Loud said increased sales would be achieved by moving further afield.
Were on our way to London and we are definitely looking for more farmers to join us.
PMPs original business plan forecast breakeven after three years.
We broke even in March, not much more than 18 months after we started, said Mrs Loud.
But she added the co-op has suffered from persistent poisonous rumours about its pricing policies.
But for the viciousness of some people, we would have more members and they would be enjoying the better prices we have been able to pay those who have stuck with us.
Peninsulas April and May price was 17.25ppl before transport.
