Dow moves into UK potato market

US giant Dow Chemical has bought its smaller stateside rival Rohm and Haass agricultural business for about $1bn.

The acquisition will be integrated into Dow Agrosciences, and includes fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, as well as trademarks and license to use Rohm and Haass biotechnology assets.

The move gives Dow a presence in the UK potato market, including Dithane and Electis blight fungicides. Another familiar product – oilseed rape herbicide Kerb – is also included.

Meanwhile, Interfarm, Rohm and Haass UK marketing arm with depots in Doddington, Cambs, and Dereham, Norfolk, has been bought by Dalgety.

This will give Dalgety products a wider market audience, and give Interfarm customers more choice, says the company. Interfarm will continue to supply products to agricultural distributors. &#42
