Early lamb sales take off rapidly
By FWi staff
MORE than 200 lambs have been sold less than a week after FARMERS WEEKLY and FWi launched a Lamb Ban Beater campaign.
The magazine and Internet site teamed up with leading producer-run meat initiative Farmers First to promote the sale of light lambs from Britain.
Readers are being asked to eat for Britain and buy whole or half lambs which will be delivered direct to their door by courier.
Each order will include a donation to the ARC-Addington Fund which is providing emergency financial help to those hit by the foot-and-mouth crisis.
“We are delighted that this campaign to reduce the surplus of light lambs has got off to such a flying start,” said FARMERS WEEKLY Editor Stephen Howe.
Some 750,000 readers from Horse&Hound, Country Life and the leading regional newpaper Western Morning News, which are supporting the initiative.
