EU cash for plastic scheme?

THE Environment Agency in Wales is to apply for Eurocash to fund the collection and recycling of farm plastic.

The move follows the closure of the Farm Film Producers Groups Welsh agents, which took black plastic from 5000 farms, and a growing number of complaints about material littering the countryside.

An Environmental Agency spokesman said EU funding would be an interim measure until legislation was passed requiring plastic film users to contribute to disposal costs.
