EU votes for new abattoir rules

European farm ministers have voted in favour of the UKs proposal for new rules to be imposed on abattoirs throughout the UK. The agreement, reached by a majority of eight votes to seven, requires the removal of all specified risk material from cattle and sheep at slaughter throughout the EU.
