Farm crisis could get worse — NFUS

JIM Walker, president of the National Farmers Union of Scotland (NFUS), has warned farmers they must expect more problems if they continue in agriculture.

Mr Walker said the last few years in agriculture had been the worst since the depression of the 1930s.

The task ahead facing farmers could be made more difficult because many other lobby organisations, such as the RSPB, had larger budgets than the NFUS.

Mr Walker promised delegates meeting at Castle Douglas that the union would carry out an aggressive campaign to get farmersí views across to politicians.
