Farmer plays Santa to make ends meet
By FWi staff
A CASH-STRAPPED farmer has taken a job as Father Christmas after floods ended hopes of a decent harvest, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Bill Gower, who co-runs the 500-acre Sackville Farm, in Herstmonceux, East Sussex, receives 5.50 an hour working in Santas grotto at a nearby science centre.
Mr Gower was struggling to keep his dairy and arable farm going before floods ruined autumn-sown wheat and prevented him harvesting maize and potatoes.
“I am earning more as Father Christmas than I am making at farming,” he told The Telegraph.
