Farmers market for Notting Hill

NOTTING Hill, the west London suburb which provided the name and location for the hit film starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, is to get its own farmers market.

After the runaway success of Londons first farmers market in Islington, producers are set to sell their food in Notting Hill every week from 25 September.

Among the products on offer, direct from the farmers who grew them, will be fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, salads, eggs, honey, wines, juices, breads, and cheeses.

The market is sponsored by the Notting Hill Gate Improvements Group and organised by US-born farmers daughter Nina Planck.

Ms Planck, who set up the Islington market which started in June, grew up selling vegetables grown by her own familys farm in Virginia.

The Notting Hill market will open on Saturday 25 September from 9am-1pm and every Saturday thereafter.

More than 80 farmers markets have opened in Britain since the first farmers market in England opened in Bath in 1997.
