Farmers’ markets ‘are the way forward’
FARMERS market provide a means of solving the problems of British agriculture, according to one letter writer in The Times.
Nina Planck, of Islington Farmers Market, believes that the 15 similar markets in Britain will create an effective retail outlet for farmers.
The writer says farmers will benefit by receiving retail prices for produce while the countryside “stays economically productive, without recourse to tourism and theme parks”.
In the same letters section, the editor of Farmers Weekly defends his magazine against accusations that it is largely funded by revenue from advertisements for agro-chemicals.
