Farmers’ markets to invade London
FARMERS markets are set to spring up in several venues in London, with one opening for business in Islington, according to The Guardian.
Nina Planck, a speechwriter to the US ambassador Philip Lader, is behind the Islington venture.
The newspaper quotes several sources to suggest that demand is rising, a trend reflected in the sales of home grown produce in farm shops.
Some farms reported a 20% rise in sales last year, despite the wider farming crisis, according to the Farm Retail Association.
