Farmers protest against ‘new colonialism’

AN INTERNATIONAL group of farmers is taking part in a month-long tour across Europe to protest against the “neo-colonialism” of the southern hemisphere.

The farmers are protesting over subjects from debt to unfair terms of trade, economic globalisation and genetically modified foods.

The Guardian reports on the protest which calls itself the “Intercontinental Caravan”.
