AFTER two years development and 2500 test hours, Landquips self-propelled Field Leader 155 sprayer is ready to hit dealers yards.
A low-cost, modest specification machine, the sprayer features a rolling chassis built by Paul McAvoy, a Cambs-based agricultural engineer.
The chassis comprises two A-frames joined at the narrow end to a central pivot point.The larger end of each A-frame connects to each axle. Air bag suspension that can adjust air pressure to accommodate different loadings and help ensure each wheel exerts an equal amount of ground pressure is also employed. Maximum spraying speed is rated at 25kph.
A further advantage of the chassis, says Landquip, is its low-slung design can be mounted with 3000 litre or 5000 litre tanks, allowing an 80cm (54in) ground clearance.
Power is from a 6.8 litre 155hp John Deere engine, driving through a 6Fx6R torque converter transmission rated at 50kph.
The Field Leader has a 300 litre/min spray pump which distributes tank mix to aluminium booms.
Booms in 18m to 42m widths are fitted with suspension and a self-levelling system as standard.
Standard spraying equipment includes a pneumatic Pozi-Flow system which instantly shuts off and operates each nozzle.
The system is designed to eliminate nozzle drippage regardless of spraying pressure, together with centrifugal forces created in the spray lines when turing at headlands.
The Field Leader 155 sprayer costs from £85,000 when fitted with a John Deere cab and air brakes. *
