Firm investigation
A HAULAGE company that earned up to £27m disposing of animal carcasses in the foot-and-mouth disease crisis is to be investigated by MPs.
The Commons public accounts committee will examine contracts awarded to Snowie Ltd, the main contractor dealing with Cumbrias mass burial site.
Finance director of the company Euan Snowie gave £5000 to the Labour party five-months after his fleet of 40 lorries provided transport of carcasses to burial sites across Britain, according to newspaper reports.
Mr Snowie said the investigation by the Commons committee was completely unfounded. *
and the contracts went to tender in the correct way.
