Fishmeal ban delay

Fishmeal ban delay
THE EU ban on feeding fishmeal to ruminants will not apply on UK farms until at least Apr 1 and the fight for full derogation of the ban will continue.
According to the Fishmeal Information Network, although EU legislation banned use of fishmeal on Jan 1, member states have to introduce their own legislation to implement the ban, and this will take six weeks or longer.
FIN believes that authorities in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will follow Englands lead.
Meanwhile, industry organisations will target UK ministers to persuade them to reverse the ban, which they see as an unjustified slur on fishmeals reputation for safety and purity, says David Stringer, FIN. *
