Forward buying keeps straights steady
By FWi staff
RUMINANT straights prices have remained steady this week although further falls have been seen in some commodities.
Pure fishmeal has seen the largest drop falling £5/tonne to £510/t and maize-gluten home-produced pellets have fallen £4/t down to £74. Distillers dried home-produced pellets have fallen £3/t from £114/t to £111.
Many other commodities fell by up to £2, while others remained unchanged. Merchants blame this further slump on a lack of buyers in the market. Producers bought forward earlier in the year and many others are using their own grain to save money.
